No freebies today because my scanner’s still at the servicing centre. Which is actually a great opportunity to go read my article (on blogging) in the current issue of Sister mag. I feel I have to clarify a few things about my shit blogger comment.
I do sincerely think that I am a horrible blogger. Reading your article did nothing but remind me that yes, I am indeed not good at it and I should probably make an effort if I expect people to read the stuff I put out.
Like, I was working on a post earlier, and the pictures are horrible quality. I didn’t take them, so I can’t really be bothered.
I also have no idea what my message is, I ramble on about whatever is on my mind, and I am more interested in the code running the blog than what’s on it from time to time.
What I am saying is: I am a horrible blogger and I mean that. I did not mean it in a self-centered ‘ooh, you wrote an article about blogging and how to do it and now I’m going to feel insecure about the thing and be pissed’
Who does that?
Bloggers put a lot of work and effort in their stuff. I don’t.
Posts are posted in a hasty way, pictures can be much better, and so on and so forth.
That doesn’t mean that what I do has no value. Heck no. I’m writing code that that tries to help fix a problem, and I’m doing it for free..
I spent hours on end perfecting that code, tweaking the patterns, making sure everything looks good, testing it, thinking about how I’m going to do the instructions and so on.
But all that is no blogging. I suck at blogging and your article reminded me of that. And I am happy it did
It’s good to know where you can improve yourself.
So I’m going to keep on doing what I do, but I might try to be a bit better at blogging
