2012 in Review – more of a thank you of sorts

The WordPress.com stats helper monkeys prepared a 2012 annual report for this blog.

The above is WordPress’ passive-agressive way of underestimating everyone’s intelligence while helping. Ignore it.

WordPress helpfully sent me some arbitrary comparisons based on the assumptions that I have trouble fathoming large numbers, and that I care about Jay-Z concerts.

19,000 people fit into the new Barclays Center to see Jay-Z perform. This blog was viewed about 62,000 times in 2012. If it were a concert at the Barclays Center, it would take about 3 sold-out performances for that many people to see it.

They were wrong on both counts*.

Moving on:

Top commentors for 2012

Which brings me to the point of this post: I started this blog to meet cool sewists and interact with the sewing community. Consider that box ticked and this, my heartfelt thanks to everyone that expended the ATP. Really, it means a lot to me. I wanted to do something to acknowledge my gratitude so thank you so much to everyone that took the time to comment and for the ladies mentioned above (Calico Stretch, prttynpnk, symondezyn, velosewer and Javie), please check your inboxes.

Click here to see the complete report. Don’t.

Use your internal hard drive space for something more interesting instead.

*I am ever grateful for WordPress statistics (and having all of the information for last year in one place is great) I’m just slightly aghast at the dumbing down in the presentation.

  1. Funny, you had the same reaction I did to mine, with one exception, I laughed at the fact I averaged 3 photos a day. I prefer your updated version with the compairson to Fashion Week

  2. LOL I got one of those update thingies from WordPress too… hilarious that they used a Jay-Z concert to compare your stats to; and even more hilarious that the numbers were wrong ^___^

Thank you for the shout – it’s been a pleasure following your blog and getting to know you; I look forward to another year of your inspiring creations and personality ^__^

  3. Hi TJ,
Your the one who was supportive and sent me the glove info to get my glove making back on track last year. For that action, I’ll always be thankful that you did that.
And your posts are funny and insightful.
    Thank you TJ.

  4. I just clicked through to your “more interesting” link – we were just at the Kennedy Space Centre last week and loved the 3D films of the space stations’ development and life inside it. Before reality hit, I really wanted to be an astronaut. Waiting until space travel becomes affordable for the masses, and then I’ll be donning my suit!

    • *Gasp* I heard of a contest just the day before where the winner gets to go up into near space and I can’t find the link now XP however, if you’re into space stuff you might want to check out Chris Hadfield’s feed (he posts a lot of pictures of the earth from space-as he’s taking them) and of course Neil deGrasse Tyson.

  5. You mean they don’t have equal opportunities for monkeys at WordPress?
Seriously thanks for making the Internet better. You’ll get us all up to scratch soon :)

  6. Statistics make me dizzy.
Completely unrelated to this. Thank you so much for the tip on the seam allowances, I get an idea of what you mean, and I´ll try it soon enough.

  7. And thank you for your posts and entertaining commentary! I enjoyed being part of your social sewing circle last year. Here’s to a more productive 2013!

  8. I had to google Jay-Z to find out just what he was. Useful stats in some ways but not so much on others – I’m not going to link to mine ….. Would rather sew or read other blogs lol.

I’m such a fuddy duddy … And thanks for the inbox treat – you’re very sweet.

  9. Ha! Funny post. I did not get one of those from WordPress. Presumably because I only began blogging in December 2012. I wish I had though, it looks amusing. Next year :) And, I’m not official statistics, but I personally have been enjoying reading your blog as well as the ones you mention. Very inspiring and they help me get my sew on!

How's it going? If you've got a question please read the post first.
