I’m on the front page of Burdastyle
And I’m pretty chuffed about it.
They approached me about it last October, which was a seriously busy time for me (exams and marking at the Uni) so I told them I’d have to take a rain check on it. Anyhoo, it’s here now and it’s made me realise I really need to lift my game with my outfit photos.
Carl just called and guffaw’d about the fact that there are three photos of me up there in RTW. Also that the book I’m scanning for the next Friday Freebie is now officially overdue (on his library card because I am no longer a member of the University Library).
Big thanks to Burdastyle. Full article here.

That’s a great feature! Really enjoyed reading about you.
I loved the photos and admire your makes. I also suspect you may have been the cutest little girl ever!
I know what you mean about Tron! Let me know if you fancy a sewing challenge for making that leather glowsuit (mine would have to be rain-safe)!!
yay! Loved reading your interview! Congrats!
Congrats, it’s a great interview! I also tend to use metric measurements (Japanese pattern whatnot, and measuring in metric tends to keep my measurements more accurate/honest), although I switch it up. So what led you to live in so many different places? That’s so cool!
Great article. Love your work!
Congratulations! Oh, that is a great photo!…and I´m off to Burda site.
Yeah! You really deserve to be featured.
What a GREAT interview!!! I just love your voice, your sense of humor, and your style. And that first picture of you and Carl is priceless!!
Well you have a right to be chuffed. Very cool! And I have in fact done the sleeveless-dress-lining-mobius-loop thing before. I went back and read the instructions again
Heheh I think that *situation* exists to help people decide whether they really want to get into sewing or not-and if yes, how many nerves they are willing to burn in the process XD
What a great interview! Now 800,000 Burda members know what we already do, You’re Awesome! Congrats!
Thank you-that means a lot coming from you-gainfully employed sewing professional at the top of her game =D
Really awesome – loved reading it, very you and very honest. Great job. Completely love the profile shot!
Love your work…and your wit! Congrats on a great interview and showcase of your excellent creations!
How awesome! And very cute picture of your younger self with the dog.
Thanks. I owned one dress back then (made by someone else not me)-tore it the day it was put on me XD
Congratulations. I loved reading that interview.. and such cute photos of you and Carl!!
Woot ! congratulations ! great article and well deserved
Great interview! I enjoyed reading your story and got to know you better than before. Thank you!
Hehehehe, I just saw it on the site and came over here! The profile was great. Just now resurfacing after a DRA! MA! TIC! experience post-Golden Plains, I’ll tell you all about it this weekend! Thanks for sending the google calendar invite, I’ve accepted
) Can’t wait!
zomg drama! I cannot wait for the weekend-this has been a lets say less than adequate week .. Also thanks XD
Save some of the goss for when I get there
RTW photos on BurdaStyle, he, he! I enjoyed the article. You make beautiful clothing.
Thank you for the link! Congratulations on the front page photo, and I really really love your article for Featured Member. I can’t agree more with you about the opinion on the seam allowances…
Saw that in the Burda newsletter a little while ago, congrats. : ) Your guy is cute, too.
Loved the interview
It’s a great interview & the stuff you have made is beautiful and unique. I particularly like the tip re running thru the construction in 3D in your head and looking stuff up *before* you start. Congrats on the front page
really enjoyed reading more about you on Burdastyle. I actually think your great photos (as someone who is camera shy and has no decent camera) are one of the best features of your blog. I can always see the garment clearly and they are really good quality. I liked your advice to newbies about reading the pattern through. I usually do that, ignoring any difficult bits I don’t understand ….
Go you good thing! Great atricle and very insightful
By the way, has any one ever mentioned that Carl strikes an uncanny resemblance to a much younger Sam Neill?!
What a great treat, I mean for me, us, readers! Love your feature and insight on your personal philosophies, which I completely, hands down agree with. “Sweatshoppery” is going into my daily vernacular, thank you very much.
And as for your style, yay, uniquely you and perfectly you. Loved seeing the range of your sewing, very inspiring.
Congratulations on completion of you phD and featured article! Awesomeness!
Amazing! I love seeing your many different creations. And what a gorgeous guy.
Lovely interview and a great photo
Congrats!!
Loved the interview, great photos, good to “meet” Carl and to find out that you have lived all over the place.
Congratulations! Great stuff you’ve sewn as well. Nice!
Congratulations! Long overdue. Love that picture too, looking forward to reading the feature!
yay for you ! Well done . You look very happy .
Love your first dress as a starting point. And that you have a picture of it. Actually do you still have the dress?
Congrats too of course.
Thanks-na, it went to the charity bin only last month actually. XD
Awesome stuff TJ! Well deserved for your contribution out there in blog land scanning and advocacy of accurate copyright usage.
Playing catch up today and saw this. Congrats! Great feature story and I loved all the pics. Yay!
Great interview and so fun to see so many of your makes in one place! (I am hopelessly behind in my blogging and reading. Sigh.)
